The jewelry from
CREATIONS should retain its sparkle or luster without any special care,
except for a little polishing from time to time.
However, like any other jewelry, you should avoid the
following when wearing our jewelry:
-
harsh chemicals such
as cleaning agents
-
spraying perfume or
hair spray directly on the freshwater pearls
-
chlorinated water like
in a swimming pool or wearing the jewelry in the shower or bath.
Sterling silver natually
oxidizes with age and as it's exposed to light. To clean sterling
silver and restore it's shine, use a soft cloth and gentle cleaning
solution specially formulated for sterling silver. You
can purchase a
polishing cloth from us for $5.00 which makes the job really easy.
We recommend that you
store all jewelry in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box away from things
that could scratch the beads.

The jewelry from CREATIONS is made
with quality materials. Most of the pieces are strung with a
micro stainless steel wiring with a hypoallergenic nylon coating. We
also use uniquely designed, solid clasps made in a variety of
materials.
If you experience any problems with the quality of our
jewelry, we
want to know about it. Repairs for problems due to normal wear
and tear for items purchased within 30 days are taken care of
at no charge. After 30 days, we will repair the jewelry
piece for a small fee.

The beads we use come from all over
the world and some of them have unusual names. Listed below are some
of the uncommon terms you will run across in our jewelry descriptions
(listed alphabetically):
|
Cloisonné
Beads: Beads
that have an enamel-like surface. Dozens of tiny cells
are arranged on the bead's surface, filled with colored enamel
and fired in an oven at an extremely high temperature.
Each bead is then polished. Individual cloisonné beads can
take up to four hours to create.
|
|
Dichroic
Glass: A glass
that has a film fused on the surface of the glass to create a
reflective iridescent quality.
|
Flower foil:
Glass
beads handmade in a open flame by carefully placing the flower
foil in the center of the glass. Many of these beads are
made in the Czech republic in residents' homes.
|
Lampworked:
Made of glass,
often having a variety of different fillers to make for
interesting effects. The
fillers can be iridescent powders, metal leaf, foil in 23K
gold, sterling silver, enamels and others. The
glass comes from all over the world -- from Murano, Italy to
the Czech Republic to right here in the U.S.A.
The beads are
created by melting glass over a slowly turning metal
mandrel. Beads are then sculpted with care over an open
flame.
|
Swarovski:
Crystal
beads from Austria.
|
| Vermeil:
Sterling silver heavily electroplated
with yellow gold. |

The jewelry on this web site
is named after the individuals who supported Marci in her
first year of business by either having a bead
party or providing Marci with a service (graphic design,
web site, etc). Marci will continue this practice every
year. This year, she will name the jewelry additions after the people who
support her with a service and host
bead parties in 2002.
